Last Tuesday, I went to my neurologist for autoimmune condition. It was a good visit and I had a good doctor’s report. His assistant physician said I looked stronger and my treatments have been working fairly well. I also got my infusions changed back to the cancer clinic next month. I believe they are safer there and I feel more secure near the hospital. On Wednesday morning, I woke up feeling sick. I have been in bed all week with nausea and fever. I must have caught something while at the doctor’s office. Poo.

I am finally feeling better on the fifth day. My temperature finally returned to normal last night. Yeah! My appetite is still not very good. Most I want to eat is toast or crackers. I do take liquids thought. Coca-cola on crushed ice or iced water is good for the stomach and fever. I’ve been using ice packs on the forehead to reduce fever.

Anyway, I got some postings today, reminding me it has been a while since I last posted on blog. A special thanks to Melinda. Thank you for those that still follow my blog. I’m still here – just haven’t been 100% during this time.

Still waiting on publishers to finish editing my latest manuscript. Yes, they are slow as turtles! I admit I’m not very patient. Working on newest manuscript for poetry book. At this rate, I’m hoping by Christmas time. I would be lucky if before then.

Other than that, hanging in there! I would love to hear from other bloggers. It has been rainy here lately but sunny today. Maybe that means a brighter day!

When Reading Gets To Be A Chore!

Blogging, Reflection

I’ve always thought I was an upbeat and positive person, even in more challenging times. I have to admit that yesterday sort of sealed the deal for me. I was embarrassed by the lack of response to a book sale I had out of town. I went to my uncle’s hometown about an hour away. He is also a writer and author. I enjoyed the beautiful day, conversing with my uncle and getting new ideas. Those were the good things that happened yesterday.

I’ve noticed that people are too lazy to go into a bookstore to buy a book. With the modern technology of Internet, digital apps., Kindle and e-books, most people rely on online services for buying books. I’ve also noticed people do not even look at books nowadays. Therefore, their interest in reading becomes less and less.  Again, with the presence of Internet, we have become lazy in the brain and rely way too much on modern technology to entertain us. I come from the old school of written books and application to learn from. It’s a pet pea of mine. What’s wrong with using your brain?

I can only maintain that I was disappointed yesterday. It made me do some real soul-searching deep within my heart. I love writing and will continue to do so but with new marketing strategies. I’m learning that familiarity is the key to selling. People buy from what is most familiar to them, not from strangers. It seems obvious to sell books closer to home. People know you better and are more likely to be interested in buying. BTW, my latest novel on the market received a 5-Stars Rating internationally, yet, Americans seem to pass it by.

I paid for professional editing on my newest book in production right now. But even a well-edited book won’t guarantee an overall increase in sells, even 1%. I admit I’m stumped. If I didn’t enjoy writing, I wouldn’t have done it in the first place. Even the publisher consultant tells me how creative in writing I am. It is not the talent of writing, rather who you know that sells. Sad but true.

Even Stupid Ideas Sell!

While at a book sale yesterday afternoon, I saw several people pushing their pets in a doggy carriage. In fact, babies and small children were pushing their small dogs in their enclosed carriages. This happened more than once as they passed by my table outside. It made me wonder how in the world do we as the human race come up with silly ideas like this? I see them advertised on media all the time. Our intelligence has gone to mud lately.

I’m not denying that small dogs are cute but the idea that someone could come up with such a stupid idea puzzled me. The dogs are the babies instead. If all of us could come up with something conventional like this, we would all be millionaires by now. Any suggestions, anyone?
