While at a book sale yesterday afternoon, I saw several people pushing their pets in a doggy carriage. In fact, babies and small children were pushing their small dogs in their enclosed carriages. This happened more than once as they passed by my table outside. It made me wonder how in the world do we as the human race come up with silly ideas like this? I see them advertised on media all the time. Our intelligence has gone to mud lately.
I’m not denying that small dogs are cute but the idea that someone could come up with such a stupid idea puzzled me. The dogs are the babies instead. If all of us could come up with something conventional like this, we would all be millionaires by now. Any suggestions, anyone?

I am way to practical of a person to dream up of foolishness like that.

Why do you think it is a stupid idea?

A little silly to see a small child pull a doggy carriage, that’s all. There are pros and cons. It does give the owner a break from carrying a small dog, yet, the dog becomes lazy and obese (much like people). I still think a dog, even a small one, needs to exercise everyday, including walking. Keeps them more mobile and less stiff in old age.

I feel that keeping mobile is good.

I agree that the world is changing. Maybe faster than we want it to. Change is instrumental in our society. It allows growth and development.

For some of your followers, our dogs are our children, best friends, our closest family members, etc. So the idea that someone puts theirs in a baby carriage is far less stupid to me than, for example, parents who put their children on a leash. Think about it. 🙂

Sheila, no offense on dog carriages. I used to have two small dogs that I loved dearly. They were my babies. I see your point but it just surprised me that they take it to the extreme they do.

Soon enough the poor things will start suffering from obesity, because the Humans are too lazy and have inculcated them into bad habits 🙂 I just don’t get it.

That’s my point. Humans have become lazier so they are doing the same thing with their pets. Not good for a healthy lifestyle.

Dogs small enough to be pushed around in carriages? Hmm – being a person that shares a home with a Great Dane – the whole idea of a dog/baby carriage does seem a bit silly.

I’m getting emails to the contrary. Must be a dog lover. I love dogs too but feel we take it entirety to the extreme – shoes and clothes on dogs, dog hotels and spas and now carriages. What next? I need to invent a kitty carriage. Chuckle.

Thank you! Nothing wrong with inventive ideas. Only some take it to the extreme.

Yeah, the dogs as babies thing bothers me. Oh well, it’s not my problem, and I need to remind myself of that!

Yeah, I used to have two small dogs as well. They were my babies then. I guess people that own small dogs, it is not such a stupid thing. I just thought it extreme that the real babies (children) were walking the dogs. Chuckle.
