The other day I was looking through my email. I found an email I failed to open for some reason. It was a blogger who started following my blog on WordPress. When I opened it, I was surprised. There was a young woman nude from the chest up. She was carrying a healthy load too. She looked to be in her late teens or early twenties. I am a woman but I don’t claim to be either homosexual or bisexual for that matter.
No, I will not give anyone the blog site. I just wanted to warn bloggers on WordPress. I can take this one or two ways:
• I could be offended.
• I could take it as a compliment. lol
I thought WordPress didn’t allow “porn” or nudity on its site. I was surprised that this passed through the cracks. The blog had over 200K followers so she has been on Internet for a while. I know that even Gravatars have to be “G” rated to be cropped for this site. Can someone explain how this happened or have I been hacked?
The Main Focus 
My overall observation of social media is that there is a subset of sexual obsessives who are utterly convinced that everyone in the world is as obsessed with sex as they are and just as keenly interested in the gynecological and urological details of their sexual fantasies.
They gleefully flood art groups, writers blogs and political discussion boards with bad pornography and extremely bad virtual pornography. Nothing is more exciting to these people than the thought that they have someone’s attention. And just like the desperate loser who slips his date drugs because he can’t get it any other way, so
these people find a way to slip their eternal adolescent sexuality into someone’s email.
With sexual obsessives no always means yes and complaints are taken with the rage of a hard core alcoholic in the middle of an unwanted intervention.
Just my take on Internet Porn.

Ok..maybe I went into over-kill. I’d just finished clearing the pending photos for my flickr groups. It was one bad porn shot after the other, all posted to groups that are clearly asking for — well…Not porn.

I don’t know…I like moderating groups on Flickr. It’s a great way to meet other photographers and learn. I may have a less tolerant perception of what is and isn’t porn because of my background.
People post alot of images that simply make no sense for a group designed to showcase flowers.
I may be missing a metaphor. 🙂

I thought there could be nudity, but it has to be a MATURE flagged blog. I don’t know, since I don’t really go searching those out. My Gravatar let me rate from G to R, I think. My Reader only allows not adult flagged blogs by default, unless I were to follow them.

Thanks Josh for responding. Now I know something new but I believe this was a young person’s blog (adolescent). Thanks for letting me know. As far as Gravatar, I could rate from G to R, however, it would only allow photo on “G” rated. Anyway, I’m not into Mature blogs either so you got me on this one. lol

I had a similar experience, but with a big middle finger added. Lol! I think some bloggers are just exhibitionists or wannabe shock jocks. I’m not sure how they get through, but I’ve seen this happen in the likes too. There may be a setting that each individual blogger needs to set on their own blog to block these sorts of things. I wish I could be more helpful. I’ve only had it happen twice in over a year, so I didn’t pursue any more information.

Dawn, Sorry that happened to you. I wish I could block or at least put in text to not put mature material on the blog. I need to look into it today. It’s a pity that the social media and modern technology has to come to this. I felt WP was a clean site. I had no idea until yesterday that nudity was allowed. 200K likes. Some Gal. I post images onto another photo site and wondered why I didn’t get many hits. A mate said to include the word ‘topless, top off or naked bodies may offend’ in my titles. I did so and got over 750 hits in one night. The lookers must have been disappointed because all I showed were photographs of Landrovers with the soft tops down or removed. Personally, now that I’m well past my teen years, if I spot nudity in any print mode, I just couldn’t care less and pass on by. Oh to be 17 again.

WordPress allows nudity. You have to have it in context though. I could give examples but I don’t like offending people.

It really depends on several factors.
>Is the blog or entry marked Mature
>Does the nudity serve a purpose
IE: Is it in protest, art, something where it might be expected
They don’t generally allow pornographic art for the sake of art. But I joined Naked Jihad and guess what the picture under the article “The culture of rape” I am naked. Now it is covered up a little and not out right pornographic but it is clear there is nudity. That falls within the WP standards which are more relaxed than the FB standards,
But nudity for nudity sake or vulgar nudity they tend to take issue with.

No, I was surprised that WP allowed it. I think the person is young (adolescent or a little bit older) and was demonstrating through a YouTube video. I may put in text on my blog to not put mature material. Then whether I choose to follow the blog, it is on me. Thanks for the information. 🙂

Given that not all nudity is pornographic, I’m not sure any algorithm can filter pornography effectively. I’ve heard about some internet filters that, in an effort to filter out anything pornographic, end up filtering out information of breast cancer. Not an easy challenge.

I’ve been on this site for a year and have not had that experience except in some artwork. Being a retired nurse, I’ve seen more than I cared to; plus, I’ve been married nearly 50 years, so pics don’t turn me on–my husband takes care of that.
You’re right about not knowing which way to take it, but often you’re response is what gets the sender excited. I’d let WordPress know and stop following him. Most importantly–don’t give him the satisfaction of a response.

I modeled before and had several friends who were artists that I posed for. I’m more nervous about people listening to me sing than seeing me nude.
